约翰霍普金斯大学心理健康系从事以人群为基础的研究，主要是精神、酒精和药物依赖障碍的病因学、产生、预防和控制方面的研究。健康科学硕士之心理健康项目的目标是增进对人口中这些因素失调的原因和后果的了解；研究其他临床、组织或财政安排的影响；研究和应用预防酒精、药物和精神疾病的公共卫生方法。该学位课程计划在一个学年内完成，前两个学期，学生主要学习心理健康、生物统计学、流行病学、研究伦理学等核心课程。
