谢菲尔德大学影视翻译文学硕士项目向学生传授字幕翻译的理论和实践，帮助其获得在这个专业领域工作所需的技术知识和技能。通过理论研究和参与字幕项目，学生将了解该专业的运作方式，并意识到其中所涉及的语言和文化问题。学生将至少学习一种语言的翻译，当前的翻译可选语言类型包括：英语-阿拉伯语、英语-中文、英语-波兰语、英语-意大利语、捷克语-英语、荷兰语-英语、法语-英语、德语-英语、葡萄牙语-英语、俄语-英语、西班牙语-英语。
