在当代，各国之间迫切需要以合作来应对重大的全球安全挑战，并改变棘手的国家间和国内冲突。基于此，伯明翰大学全球合作与安全理学硕士项目的学生将受到相关理论和实践方面的跨学科培训，以便在全球合作和冲突解决领域打下基础。学生将从多学科角度理解全球安全中的重要挑战（如气候变化、核扩散、跨国恐怖主义、国家内部和国家间的棘手冲突等），并参与国际关系、政治心理学和安全研究方面的讨论。
