The mission of the Master of Finance program at MIT Sloan is to create the next generation of principled, global financial leaders with state-of-the-art training in modern finance theories and methods. Our program attracts the best and brightest students who go on to advance financial management practice and improve the world. Please draw upon experiences from the past three years.

Please discuss past academic and professional experiences and accomplishments that will help you succeed in the MFin program. Include achievements in finance, math, statistics, and computer science as applicable.

Describe your short-and-long-term professional goals. How will our MFin degree help you achieve these goals? Share personal qualities that will enable you to contribute to the advancement of our mission. Relevant, verifiable details, such as awards, rankings, media references, etc., are requested. 1. Business with humanity in mind means many things to different people. Please explain what business with humanity in mind means to you and how you will apply your knowledge, skills and abilities to advance this ideal over the next five years. You may elaborate on any past experience you have had which demonstrates your commitment and interest in this area (500 word maximum).

2. Select 1 prompt in which to respond from list below for the second essay:

1). Business leaders have the ability to create opportunities, build products and systems, and inspire others to action. Please describe a time you created an opportunity, built a new product or system, or inspired others to act. The example you provide and elaborate upon may come from your professional endeavors, academic pursuits or civic engagements. (300-500 words)

2). Please tell us about a major accomplishment you have experienced in your professional or academic life. What did achieving this accomplishment teach you about yourself? (300-500 words).

3). Please identify a tough problem that you are committed to addressing as a future business leader. What role will you play in the solution? What skills and abilities do you have (or might you need to acquire) to tackle this task? (300-500 words)

1)  Describe your short-term and long-term goals for post-MBA or post-MS. Given the fluctuation of economic and industry hiring trends, identify a back-up plan should your short-term goal not be immediately attainable. How does your past education and experience support your career objectives? Lastly, what aspects of your intended Simon Business School program make it a good choice for your graduate study? 12-point font, 250-500 word limit)

2)  In 25 words or less, provide us with an interesting fact about yourself not expressed elsewhere in your application (12-point font, 25-word limit)

3) (Optional) Share additional information you think is important in the evaluation of your application, including any concerns you think the Admissions Committee may have regarding your candidacy. (500 word limit)

☞ University of Southern California-MS in Finance

Essay: Please introduce yourself. Why do you want to get a Master of Science in Finance degree? How does your prior education and experience fit in with our program? How do you think an MS Finance degree will enhance your career? (No more than 500-750 words.)

Provide written statement (in 300 words or less describe your area of interest in finance and what your goals are upon completion of the MSF program)

Please submit an essay of no more than 300 words that encompasses the following:

1)Discuss the choices that have led you to your current career path and position

2)Express your career goals and how the ILLINOIS MSF will help you to achieve these goals

3)Indicate your desired position upon completion of the ILLINOIS MSF program

Your written statement be uploaded in the on-line application.

Note: the 300 word statement is the only statement required. Applicants Do NOT need to complete the 1500 word statement referenced in the online application.

☞ University of Texas at Austin-MSc in Finance (McCombs)

1) (Video/Written) Imagine that you are at the MSF Orientation. Please introduce yourself to your new classmates and faculty members and include any personal and/or professional aspects that you believe to be significant. Select ONE communication method you would like to use for your response. Please note that the video introduction is strongly recommended and preferred by the admissions committee (recommended video length is 60-90 seconds) (250 words limit).

2) How have your personal, academic and professional experiences led you to pursue the MSF degree at this time? Please discuss both your short- and long-term career goals, including your vision of your post-graduation employment, and describe how the Texas MSF will help you meet those goals (1000 words maximum).

3) (Optional 1) If your standardized test scores are low or if you have not had coursework that demonstrates quantitative and analytic proficiency, please tell us how you plan to prepare yourself for the quantitative rigor of the MSF curriculum (optional - 200 words maximum).
