新托福口语80道经典考题万能理由系列之一

　　新托福口语的task 1和task 2有80道经典考题,这就是传说中出题频率最高的黄金80题,这80题囊括了几乎所有常规题和部分另类题。其实这些口语经典考题的解题思路并非深不可测。我们经过精心梳理和思路分析,分析最常用的解题思路,发现了贯穿其中的若干万能理由。考生如果掌握了这些万能理由,就如同手上握有一串万能钥匙,可随意打开一扇又一扇通往托福口语高分的门。

　　今天开讲第一课,诸多万能理由中使用频次最高的——

　　万能理由之一：expand one’s horizons

　　作为万能理由的第一条,expand one’s horizons绝对是不二之选。究其本意,单数的horizon是地平线、海平线的意思,但复数的horizons却指人们的眼界、视野,其英文注释为：the limit of your ideas, knowledge and experience. 其动词搭配一般有三个：expand, broaden, widen,都表示拓展、拓宽、扩大。略举一例：world history is a course of study that will broaden your horizons.

　　在黄金80题库中,可运用该思路组织话语的题目不胜枚举,从academic studies到traveling,从leisure activities到part-time jobs,几乎任何一个跟学生生活有关的话题,我们都可以用它作为一个颠扑不破的理由。

　　先看一个具体话题：(第10题)should the government help to build more museums and theaters? 我们先给出肯定回答：yes, i think the government should help to build more recreational facilities such as museums and theaters. 下面以表格的形式给出其中一条主干理由：enrich citizens’ cultural life(丰富公民的文化生活)

　　在主干理由之下,有一条分支理由：expand young people’s horizons, 其根据是年轻人参观博物馆可以学到很多课堂中学不到的东西 —— for many young people, visiting museums is a unique experience that greatly expands their horizons because they can learn a lot of things outside the classroom.

　　再来看一个抽象话题：(第3题)describe the most important decision in your life. 面对此类抽象话题,最佳的策略是将它具体化,变成一个常规的或日常生活的具体话题,然后套用我们的万能理由。因此,选择什么内容把它讲成the most important decision就变得格外重要。请看思路：i think i made the most important decision of my life by choosing to go to an overseas university after graduation from high school in china. 去海外上大学是绝大多数考生的既定选择,也是一个再普通不过的话题了,而其中的一条主干理由就是：it will broaden my horizons. 参见下表：

　　作为主干理由的broaden my horizons,之下又有made friends, travelled a lot, visited various museums等三条分支理由,思路极易展开。
