阿祖萨太平洋大学本科奖学金申请essay范文:

at the age of five, i waved goodbye to korea and commenced my adventure as a missionary kid. i soon found myself in a foreign place- the land of infinitely many sheep, cows, and white people- called new zealand. here i was instantly exposed to a very free and wild culture. while children of my age in korea were already memorizing the multiplication tables, i was busy playing on the trampoline and enjoying strange new dairy products, like goat milk and smelly bleu cheese. by living in a place with endless fields of grass, i had the opportunity to freely run around and enjoy the beauty of nature. i still freshly remember running in fields filled with cow dung, watching a cow give birth, and eating freshly picked fruit from trees. new zealand’s abundant flow of nature helped me to cultivate my free spirit, which is apparent in my love for creation and art.

after two years in new zealand, our family received a call from god, and we moved to china. living in china, i had the opportunity to follow my parents on mission trips to akha minority villages. it was a shock to me that the akha people lived in crudely built bamboo huts and had bathrooms with not doors, no toilet seat, but just a hole in the ground. to build relationships, our family and other missionaries helped the villagers plant rice fields, renovate old houses, and build bathrooms with proper water systems. although my work was limited to carrying a few bamboos and planting some rice plants, i felt a sense of pleasure in participating in something that would bring joy to others. i will not forget the time an elderly akha woman held my hand and flashed a wide smile that revealed her uneven, black teeth. her warm smile seemed to indicate her gratitude and appreciation for our help. it was throught such touching experiences in china that my eyes were opened to ess privileged people, and gave me a desire to serve for those in need.

after eight years in china, i moved to thailand for educational purposes. as a sunday school teacher and sports leader, i have loved the experience of teaching and serving younger students; watching students enjoy and learn from my teaching is truly a thrilling experience. i take pleasure in listening to children talk enthusiastically about their day- whether its about the magnificent drawing they painted in class, or about how nervous they were during their class presentation.

it is my dream to become an elementary teacher who will not only teach, but also who will be a mentor for to the students. it is possible that after completing my education, i will enter an international institution to serve missionary kids, or return to be an elementary teacher in korea. just as the various cultures shaped and influenced my life, my desire is that i would enrich and cultivate students to embrace the world beyond the classroom environment, and inspire them to live their own exciting adventure.
