General Entrance Requirements

For admission to a Doctoral degree programme, you must possess a Master's degree. As for the Master's degree or Postgraduate Diploma, the basic requirement is a Bachelor's degree from an institution that is recognised by PolyU. In addition, you must meet the entrance requirements that are specified by the individual programmes. PolyU may accept equivalent qualifications. The decision is made on an individual basis.

English Language Requirement

If you are not a native speaker of English, and your Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification is awarded by institutions where the medium of instruction is not English, you are expected to fulfil the following minimum English language requirement for admission purpose, unless otherwise specified by individual programmes concerned:

A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 79 for the Internet-based test, 550 for the paper-based test, or 213 for the computer-based test;

OR

An overall Band Score of at least 6 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS);

OR

Chinese mainland's College English Test (CET) Band 6.

Individual cases will be considered on their own merit by the departments concerned. Applicants may be required to attend interviews or tests to further demonstrate their language proficiency.
