罗德岛大学，建于1892年，通常被简称为URI，是位于罗德岛的一所公立的研究型学院。1888年学校作为the states agricultural school受特许，1892年成为the Rhode Island College of AgricultureMechanic Arts。1905年改名为Rhode Island State College, 教育课程在以前的基础上有了增加和修改，1951年通过会员大会的法案成为罗德岛大学University of Rhode Island学院的主校区原先是奥利弗·沃森农场。1892年，校名被确定为罗德岛农业与机械文学学院。罗德岛大学目前共有4个校区，其中包括在罗德岛金士顿的主校区，以及三家分别位于其他州的校园，包括普罗维登斯的范士丹校园。罗德岛大学共有14546本科生和4549名研究生，2008年秋季新生的平均GPA值是3.36，罗德岛大学是一家拥有陆地补助，海岛补助金、城市补助金的机构。作为ISN合作院校今年11月份罗德岛大学校方代表将至上海面试招生。该校有许多比较著名的研究领域，包括药学和护理学院。学院共有7个不同的学院，100多个专业，其中最受欢迎的专业分别是通信学、心理学、护理学、人类发展和家庭研究学。 2008年罗德岛大学被美国新闻与世界报道评为最好的大学名单之一，并赋予它一种选择性评价。
